Common Clutch Types: Dry vs. Wet Clutch Comparison

Dry clutches dissipate heat through air, featuring simple structures and high transmission efficiency. They are widely used in most manual passenger vehicles but are prone to overheating and wear under frequent partial engagement or high loads. Wet clutches are immersed in lubricating oil, offering better heat dissipation and durability, making them suitable for high-performance vehicles, motorcycles, or heavy machinery. However, they are more complex and slightly less efficient. With technological advancements, dual-clutch transmissions (DCTs) also utilize dry and wet variants to meet the needs of different vehicle types.
